Functions of GLO-DISNET
The principal functions of GLO-DISNET are to: Define and focus on a general framework for global research and training programmes involving natural disaster risk management using a multidisciplinary geographical appproach to research. Bring together related research on natural disaster risk management under one global network. Link and increase interaction among interested researchers and institutions for the purposes of promoting related research and training on concerned topics, reduce research overlap, promote a comparative approach, and globalize research efforts where posssible. Create a global database of research findings pertaining to natural disaster risk management for the purposes of dissemination to interested UN bodies and organizations. Provide reliable, detailed information for effective environmental management, risk management and government strategies to effectively work to reduce the risks of natural disasters.
